Speaking of recent purchases
Apr. 22nd, 2005 11:07 amMmmm, Abebooks.
I spent money last night. :>
"Dress in Anglo-Saxon England" has, gloriously, been updated and re-released. I've had *cough* copies of selected pages *cough* for some time, because the original book was impossible to find, except in the library. Now that I have the opportunity to put money in the author's pocket, I'm gladly doing so. (Ditto with a more work-related text. God bless Dover Publishing. And Penguin, just on general principles.) And Abebooks was able to get me a copy of this vital reference work for $40 - a full third off cover price. Yee-ha!
And Abebooks found for me used copies of Jeff Opland's "Anglo-Saxon Oral Poetry," which I've read and have been madly coveting for a year or two. I finally found some copies that were under twice the original list price and promptly bought one. Glee, GLEE!
