My parents' anniversary was March 3 and my mom's birthday was March 12. So early March is hard for Dad.

So it seemed like a good idea to offer to do the family trip thing to Kittaning, PA, where Mom is buried. So we did; up to Grandma's in McKeesport, meet up with Dad and Sis, then up to Kitanning.

Now, all my relatives are buried in PA, and our parents didn't take us around for much visiting. So I'm not really up on my graveyard ettiquette. I'm not even sure what I was expecting.

Well, my aunt, uncle and cousin met us there, as did our grandpa's girlfriend. (He's buried right there, too.) And it was bitter cold and windy, so after about 120 seconds of standing around and saying hello, we all piled back into the cars and went to a restaurant for lunch.

I think I got closest to the actual gravesite at about 10-12' away.

Now, my dad did offer to take me back later (he was under the mistaken impression that I hadn't been there since the funeral) and I can't argue that we had two older ladies there who were really really cold so leaving was really the smart thing to do.

And upon more reflection, this was really for Dad and whatever made it easier for him; if that's having lunch with Mom's sister and her husband, then okay.

Just... weird. Don't know what my expectations were, but that wasn't it.
