So I handed off "thesis_draft_penultimate.doc" to my advisor. She's sent it off to Grumpy College Professor, who didn't pass me at the defense, to see if he'll pass me now. She'll be checking it over herself for any last-minute edits and getting it back to me (I assume) today. I make any last-minute edits, "Save As thesis_draft_final.doc," and get her to make it a .pdf file. Then it goes to the Graduate School.

It's... not bad. If I had another week, I'd seriously re-read it and edit it down. I tend to an informal, chatty tone with a lot of "rather"s and colloquial turns of phrase. That's not a problem for, say, LJ or essay-writing in general, but it's not what you're looking for in a technical paper. I could tighten it up a lot.

But guess what! I don't have another week. Chatty style aside, my grammar and punctuation are good, and I express myself well. So off it goes.

But wait, there's more! Actually, if I'm lucky, there is no more and I am done, DONE! But the Grad School checks the document over for format issues and sends it back to me if there are any problems. My margins are fine (even on the landscape oriented pages), my page numbers are correct, and my general formatting follows their guidelines. The only problem I can foresee is with the figures; the text in some of the figures may be too small for their taste. We'll see.
