First sonogram
Oct. 17th, 2006 08:09 amIt's apparently standard practice now to get a sonogram done at 8-10 weeks of pregnancy. This isn't the "boy or girl" sonogram, but it helps better estimate the due date and they can check the fetus's heart rate.
So we got to see a fuzzy, shrimp-shaped black and white image of the Slumbering Beast1. I didn't get a really good view, being two feet below the monitor and at a bad angle, but it looked about like the pictures you see of 8-week olds.
Then we went to Chevy's for Mexican. They were having a "shrimp fiesta." Normally, I really like shrimp, but the merry pictures of pink shrimps in sombreros were just a little too close to the shape we'd just seen on the sonogram screen, so I opted for a chicken quesadilla.
1 - "The Slumbering Beast" was our first-draft fetal nickname, but it's starting to sound kind of hostile to me. "Spudling" spontaneously presented itself yesterday, and I may start using that.
