Moe's back at work for two weeks before coming home for good. The day alone with Spud is alternating hours of quiet and frantic activity, as the baby seems to simultaneously require comforting, feeding, changing, and burping, plus I'm trying to get my pumping and my feeding in. But he's sleeping in his sling now (should he be making noises like that?) and I can get some lunch.
Back while contemplating an Anglo-Saxon embroidered cloak project, I came across this picture of Eve nursing Cain, from a church built circa 1015 in Anglo-Saxon England. And I thought, "Gosh, I should keep that on-hand. After all, I'll probably want some nursing gear in my own period for later." Not that it was terribly clear from that ornament what was going on; Eve appears to be pulling up some overlayer (which fits well with the typical late Anglo-Saxon female dress) but I doubt the underlayer would just be skin at that point. So what's going on there?
Of course, someone's already done the research. I love the SCA and the Internet.
