I can understand that a person might be upset at being singled out as a symbol of America's obsession with vapid celebrities who are known more for their personal peccadilloes than any talent, skill, or passion, even if the person in question is a pretty good example of the type. And the response I'd expect would be the typical "It's not fair!" defensive whining, or some sort of arch, too cool for school blowoff of the remark.

Humor? Humor that at once builds on the "vapid celebrity" reputation, attempts to subvert it, and pokes a little fun at the guy you're mad at? That approaches class and style. Class and style. Paris Hilton. Whooda thunkit?

I don't know who scripted that bit for Hilton and who got her to do it, but they deserve raises or bonuses out of her pocket.

In a game with six players, four PCs have eyes which are some shade of green (two bright green, one grey-green, and one blue-green). Because green is special and unique (except in adventuring parties, evidently).

(Okay, I can't mock too hard. One of my tabletop PCs has green eyes, although if I recall correctly, I was more trying to avoid the "blonde, blue-eyed" cliche and the "red-haired, green-eyed" cliche for an Irish, so I split the difference and went with "blonde, green-eyed.")

Preview for documentary on space-based solar power, aimed at high school students. Our robot arm (and its autonomous capabilities, thank you very much!) has a couple of seconds of air time.

The FREND program did not actually address assembly of large-scale structures in space, but something that looks like the FREND arm will probably play a role in that, when we get there. (Unless they go with self-assembling structures.)

The preview didn't address some of the concerns I've heard aired about space-based solar power, namely, what will beaming that much energy through the atmosphere do to it? I don't know if that's because 1) it's only a preview, 2) those concerns have been addressed or debunked elsewhere, or 3) it doesn't fit the goal of the documentary of getting HS students interested in math and science.

I suppose I could go find the NRLers in the video and ask them...

"Nothing makes me cry. I do have on-going problems with dust at weddings, funerals and during weepie films though."
- Tony Croft from Leeds contributes items 12-14 on BBC's list of 80 things that make men cry render men vulnerable to dust motes.
