Respect for nature or cop-out?

teleribAAAH TEH FROZEN SKY-WATER ATTACK!
So yeah, at 10am, when they were saying icy conditions during the early afternoon, I opted out of going to church and RE class. The drive up looked to be fine, but I was concerned about the return trip - snow, not so bad; ice, bad. So I went grocery shopping with the Dear Spouse instead (who was really not keen on the Pregnant Lady Driving in Snow idea).
Now they're backing off a bit on the ice - we're down to 1/10 of an inch expected, instead of 2/10. Bah.
People flip out around here about snow. Part of me says that the smart thing to do is to stay home and chill out - to not be the person who refuses to admit that any mere force of nature can keep them from their appointed plans. Part of me says, "The roads are fine. What's your problem? Don't let a little snow run your life."
Hrmph.
