We actually wound up enjoying it enough that we bought the membership -- Alex will be entertained there for HOURS. I took her to see the "Chinasaurs" exhibit a few weeks ago, and she was afraid they'd gotten rid of the "Americasaurs"; she was relieved to find out they were still there. :)
The easiest way to get to the kids room is the elevator back behind Newton's Alley, but that doesn't seem to be well known. Some of the stuff on the second floor is cool, and you can get so caught up in wandering that you look down and realize you've burned your entire afternoon. It's a great museum, and we have never regretted getting the membership package.
