- A GM ad for its ethanol-powered vehicles, apparently arrived at after GM marketeers were locked in a small room with a thesaurus and a pile of previous successful ad campaigns (although I remember it being "Behold," not "Ahh").

Corn! It's what's for fuel!

By any chance, do you ever listen to NPR? There was a news blurb on ethanol and it discussed the sugar-based formula that Brazil uses. Apparently, its big selling point was that cars using it accelerated faster than petroleum.

I never saw the original ads, but I did see the guys on ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" using it as one of their standard lines when there would be a highlight of Barry Bonds smashing an enormous homer.

You'd see Barry unleash that beautiful, furious swing, there'd be a smashing sound that told everyone in the county that the ball was just friggin' GONE, Barry would stand there admiring it for a moment before he'd start his trot... and then Chris Behrman would say, in tones worthy of High Mass at St. Peter's Cathedral, "Behold, the awesome power of cheese!"
