"Fueled the buzz about him being the guy who could be the John McEnroe of bass fishing, help elevate the sport into the realm of NASCAR."
- The WaPo covers pro bass fishing.

Now, my dad is the sort of guy who likes nothing better than to camp out in front of the TV on a lazy Sunday morning, watching fishing shows followed by shotgun shows. So I am pointing and laughing at my own kin here when I say that you should go read that article for more wonderful soundbites like "it lacks the gentility of trout fishing" or "Emphasize the human drama [to sell the sport]" and "This is somewhat troubling to those who prefer the kind of sportsman whose victory speeches are limited to 'Thank the good Lord and Luck-E-Strike Lures for my success in this tournament.'"

Today’s well written WaPost article about Mike "Ike" Iaconelli typifies everything that that is wrong with commercialization with big money of a once relaxing sport. We have allowed some to rape our fish and wildlife resources without so much as a kiss for the real sportsmen.

Were Izaak Walton alive today, he’d very likely shed a tear… Somehow the League, named in his honor, with the lofty goals of “protecting our country's natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans” – today seems to have little chance of succeeding.
