"One of the things that is interesting about our life here on this planet is that sometimes the unexpected happens and chickens smashing tiles, frozen chicken hurtling through the stratosphere, is one of the mysteries of existence."
-- Premier Bob Carr of New South Wales, giving a tongue-in-cheek comment about attacks by frozen flying chickens to reporters.

I was suckered in by the advertising for "Chantico Drinking Chocolate." How much more pretentious can you get than "drinking chocolate"? It's hot cocoa, people. But it's supposed to be oh-so-chocolaty. Moe and I were out - we dropped by Starbucks. Two "Grandes," please.

$12.

Yes, $12 for two medium hot cocoas.

I will give them this - this beverage is in a category of its own. It's so thick I'm half afraid to ask if it's whole milk or cream. And it is every bit as chocolaty as promised. Seriously. I am a person who, not too many years ago, could eat fudge and cheesecake like carrot sticks. "Rich" held no meaning for me.

I don't know if I can finish this medium hot cocoa. It's that rich. It's almost too rich, too thick, too sweet. But it couldn't be too much less sweet, or the chocolate would be too bitter.

Still... $6 for a medium hot cocoa...
