That's a contraction?

I think I got my first Braxton-Hicks contractions yesterday. I'd have thought they'd feel more like cramps. At first, I thought it was Spud up to his usual gymnastics, but the weird pressure feeling was much more evenly distributed than he can manage with his knees and elbows. If not for being in entirely the wrong place for it, it might've passed for mild intestinal gas.
Which lends credence to an old family story. As it goes, my mother was having difficulty sleeping and complained to my father of recurring gas pain. My father eyed the clock and thoughtfully asked, "And about how long between these 'gas cramps'?"
"No! You don't think...?" my mother protested.
"I think," my father nodded.
I was born not too terribly long afterwards, a week or so ahead of schedule.
On a related note, my mother had apparently been playing volleyball that day. I did not understand the magnitude of that until now. Waddling around the grocery store was quite enough for me today, thanks!
