teleribFark.com is kinda fun for fans of "news of the weird." At one point, I made the mistake of reading the comments sections - they're pretty much a cesspool of intolerant stupidity and misogyny. But I keep popping in from time to time to read a few (see also Proverbs 26:11).
But, against all odds, it was there that I found the suggestion for macaroni and cheese... with bacon.
Cheese, bacon and onions are three foods that, together, are possibly evidence for Intelligent Design. How else but by Divine Providence could they be so delicious both apart but most especially together? And here was an idea for combining them in a practically pure form!
The first experiment went... well. The cheesy-bacon-onion sauce was a doctored version of Betty Crocker, and I wanted to eat it with a spoon. (Actually, after pouring it over the mac, I did eat what was left in the pot with a spoon.) I sampled it early on with some bread, and it made a tasty, tasty fondue.
On the macaroni though... not nearly as good. I think it needed more cheese, more onion, and more bacon when it was spread out over that much starch. Or maybe just more sauce, period - I doubled the sauce recipe but may have more than doubled the mac.
Clearly, more work in this area is needed.
