We will try Soak the White Wolf way. To facilitate this, I will make name-cards for the PCs, with their name and Soak on the front. I'll put Init on the back, and each player can add any other stats they want easy access to there as well.

As a GM, it puts me off-balance to stop play to consult a cheat sheet with PC stats on it. Keeping Soak up where I can see it when looking at the player will mollify me, I think.

I'll do something similar for the bad guys, whether it's a name-card or just an index card clipped to the front of a GM screen.

Not to throw a wrench in the gears, but are we talking Storyteller's "soak pool" (you attack me, I have a certain number of dice I can roll to reduce your damage successes) or Adventure!'s soak (my soak reduces the "damage effect" of your weapon, but doesn't affect the successes you roll)?

The way presented in the Adventure! rules book. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and decide that they changed their standard rule for a good reason, and that it will work well in the game.

(Besides, there's really no reason to change the rule to a rule I like *less*. :-) )
